The Foundation for Contemporary Art Prague was entered in the Registry of Foundations held by the Regional Commercial Court in Prague on 8 April 1999, section A, file no. 221, company ID no. 66 00 07 18.

The FCA Prague continues with the programme, mission and work carried out by Soros Centre for Contemporary Arts Prague. The SCCA Prague was founded in 1992 and until 1999 was entirely financed by the George Soros’s Open Society Institute, New York. The FCA works closely with the Centre for Contemporary Arts Prague, whose work it supports in accordance with its statutes.

The FCA Prague is a member of the Czech Donors Forum.
